ABOUT The lab behind the agents

A small lab with a bias toward shipping

We're a handful of engineers and researchers who got tired of AI that demos well and disappoints in week two. Samy Labs exists to close that gap, and to show our work while we do.

How we got here

From one frustrated demo to a portfolio

Day 0

A frustration, not a thesis

We started because too much AI work stopped at the demo. We wanted to live in the second week, the one where real users break things.

First product

An inbox copilot that stuck

One agent, one painful job, one human baseline to beat. It cleared the bar, went live, and taught us the playbook we still use.

Now

A lab with a portfolio

A handful of shipped agents, a short list of open research bets, and a habit of publishing what worked, and what didn't.

What we believe

Four rules we don't bend

Evidence over enthusiasm

If we can't measure it, we don't claim it. Every agent ships with a graded test set.

Ship small, ship real

The smallest agent that solves the actual job beats the ambitious one that never leaves staging.

Humans in the loop

Where a mistake is expensive, a person stays in the loop. Autonomy is earned, not assumed.

Fewer, deeper bets

We'd rather chase three hard questions well than skim a dozen. Focus is the only real moat.

Want the long version?

We write up what we learn as we go. Read the case studies, or just tell us about the problem you're sitting on.
